Reinventing Packaging: MDO Film with I’m green™ Bio-Based PE

Braskem presented a cutting-edge Machine Direction-Oriented (MDO) film developed with bio-based polyethylene (PE) derived from sugarcane ethanol. This breakthrough material offers excellent stiffness, clarity, and recyclability — key attributes for mono-material packaging such as flow packs, labels, and stand-up pouches.

Developed in partnership with Cazoolo, Braskem’s circular packaging design lab, and FCO Group, these MDO films align with circular economy goals while maintaining the high performance brands demand.

Medcol: Bio-Based LDPE for Healthcare Applications

Under the Medcol brand, Braskem introduced a low-density polyethylene tailored for pharmaceutical and medical packaging, including blow-fill-seal applications such as twist-off ampoules.
Free of additives and engineered for regulatory compliance, Medcol’s 2023 Life Cycle Assessment revealed a carbon footprint of -2.27 kgCO²e per kg — proving that sustainability and technical excellence can coexist.

Bio-Based HDPE for Non-Wovens: A Game-Changer for Hygiene

For the hygiene market, Braskem revealed a bio-based high-density polyethylene (HDPE) engineered for non-woven fabrics such as diapers and sanitary products.
This polymer offers enhanced heat resistance, color stability, and processing reliability, making it ideal for both bi-component and mono-component spunbond processes.

Its carbon footprint, measured at -2.01 kgCO²e per kg, underscores its sustainability credentials and value to manufacturers seeking circular solutions for hygiene products.

EVA 21%: Ultra-Soft Bio-Based Foam for Comfort and Performance

Braskem also presented a new I’m green™ bio-based EVA containing 21% vinyl acetate, providing unmatched softness and flexibility.
This advanced material is especially suitable for footwear — from athletic soles to comfort insoles — where cushioning and durability are essential.

By merging renewable resources with superior performance, this bio-based product empowers brands to meet consumer demand for sustainable yet high-quality materials.
