Borouge International Highlights Global Expansion and Recycling Investments

Borouge International used the PRSE event to showcase its growing role in the circular plastics economy and its expanding international presence following the merger of Borealis, Borouge and Nova Chemicals.

Speaking at the event, Shanila Baseley said PRSE provides a valuable opportunity to connect with suppliers, customers and converters across the plastics recycling value chain.

At its exhibition booth, the company presented a wide range of advanced material solutions, including renewable and recycled feedstock products, mechanical recycling technologies and materials containing post-consumer recycled content. These solutions are designed for industries such as automotive, energy and packaging.

Baseley explained that the creation of Borouge International through the merger of Borealis, Borouge and Nova Chemicals gives the business a broader global footprint across Europe, North America and the Middle East.

According to Baseley, the larger international scale will strengthen the company’s ability to support customers with more advanced circular economy solutions and improved market reach.

The company also emphasized its continued investment in chemical recycling technologies. Baseley pointed to Borealis’ 10% stake in Dutch recycling company BlueAlp as part of its strategy to process difficult-to-recycle plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfill sites or incineration facilities.

Borouge International said investments in both mechanical and chemical recycling will remain central to its long-term sustainability and growth plans as demand increases for recycled plastics and lower-carbon material solutions.
