November contract price of acrylonitrile agreed in Europe at EUR20 per tonne higher than October

November contract price acrylonitrile MOSCOW – The contract price of acrylonitrile (ACN) was finally agreed in Europe for November supplies at EUR20 per ton above the October level amid a continuing situation with a limited supply on the market, ICIS sources told the market.

Thus, the November contract price for the material in the European market is approved in the range EUR1,860-1,904 per tonne, FD NWE (North-Western Europe).

So, the offer of acrylonitrile was mainly limited in the current year amid a number of stops in Europe.

The supply on the spot market remains at a low level, and producers focused on fulfilling contractual obligations against the backdrop of a small supply of material.

Market participants note that the limited supply and increased quotes for ammonia are the reason for the increase in DKN prices, the demand is also at a good level this time of year.

Most market participants expect that the demand for DCA is likely to remain at a high level by the end of this year.

The price situation next month in the European market of DCC will largely depend on the price trend in the propylene market, a key raw material component for the production of DCA, but the situation with a limited supply is unlikely to improve.

Acrylonitrile is one of the main raw materials for the production of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS).

According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , ABS imports to Russia totaled 2.9 thousand tons in September against 3.1 thousand tons a month earlier.  For the first nine months of 2017, ABS shipments to the Russian market increased by 13% to 22,900 tonnes against 20,200 tonnes in the same period last year.
