Petkim increases February prices of PP and PE in Turkey

Petkim February prices PP PE Turkey MOSCOW  – The Turkish polymer producer Petkim, the controlling shareholder of which is the Azerbaijani SOCAR, raised the February prices of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), ICIS sources told the market on Thursday.

So, the company raised the prices of PP and blow molded low-pressure polyethylene grades (HDPE) by USD30 per ton, while quotes of PND pipe brands were increased by USD50 per ton. At the same time, prices of high-density polyethylene (LDPE) of the company increased by USD10 per ton.

This increase in PP prices is the fourth in 2018, reflecting a sharp rise in quotations for imported materials and a worldwide limited supply in world markets, which spurs PP prices and markets in other regions.

Earlier it was noted that the last time Petkim raised the prices of PP and LDPE by USD20 per ton in mid-January of the current year, while quotes of injection, blow-molded and tubular HDPE rose by USD15 per ton.

According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , in the Russian market of PP this week the coordination of contract prices for February deliveries has ended. After the growth of prices on the spot market in Russia in mid-January for the February delivery, some manufacturers announced an increase in prices of 2 thousand rubles. per ton. At the same time, on the Russian PE market this week, the contract prices for February supplies also ended. The opinions of the producers were divided, in the LDP segment, individual producers went for a significant reduction in prices. In the segment of the HDPE, price changes are insignificant.
