Sun Chemical Unveils Powerful Plastic Pigment Preparations for AMI 2026

Sun Chemical will showcase a focused range of plastic pigment preparations at AMI Compounding & Recycling Expo 2026, scheduled for 23–24 September at Messe Frankfurt in Germany.

Visitors will find the company in Hall 11, Booth F1114. Its exhibit will concentrate on colour performance, processing efficiency, dimensional stability and visual differentiation in plastic products.

New options for colouring polyolefins

One of the central exhibits will be the Eupolen NQ range, developed for the efficient colouration of polyolefins. Sun Chemical says its latest additions place particular emphasis on green and blue shades.

Polyolefins are widely used in packaging, containers and other high-volume plastic products. In these applications, a pigment preparation must provide more than an attractive shade. Process consistency, dispersion and compatibility with the polymer can also influence manufacturing results.

The exhibit will therefore give converters an opportunity to evaluate the new colours in the context of practical production requirements.

Deeper black and brighter pink

Sun Chemical will also present Microlen Piano Black 0078 MCN. The company describes the preparation as combining high jetness—a measure of the depth and intensity of black—with optimised value in use.

Another featured product, Microlen Pink 4410 MCN, offers a brighter and more chromatic pink. It has been engineered for polyolefins, rubber and selected engineering plastics.

These two products address different visual objectives: an intense black for a premium, uniform appearance and a vivid pink for stronger shelf or product differentiation.

Addressing warpage in HDPE products

Colour can affect more than appearance. In semi-crystalline polymers such as high-density polyethylene, pigment selection may influence crystallisation and shrinkage behaviour.

Sun Chemical will display Microlen and Eupolen non-warping and low-warping preparations for HDPE applications. Target products include bottle crates, pallets, containers, caps and closures.

According to the company, these preparations are designed to support dimensional stability and reduce the risk of distortion associated with polymer crystallisation and uneven shrinkage.

The claim is particularly relevant for moulded parts that must stack, close or fit together accurately. However, manufacturers should still validate performance in their own polymer grades, tooling and processing conditions.  plastic pigment preparations

Bright colours and special effects

The stand will also cover pigment preparations for bright colours and decorative effects in polyolefins.

For PVC processors, Sun Chemical plans to feature products from its Micranyl and Microlith ranges. The announced display includes Micranyl Red 4113 Q, Micranyl Silver 0010 G and new pearlescent preparations from the SunMICA FUSE portfolio.

Pearlescent effects can give moulded products a more distinctive surface without relying exclusively on additional decoration. Their final appearance nevertheless depends on factors such as concentration, polymer type, part geometry, surface finish and processing conditions.

AMI describes the Compounding & Recycling Expo as a meeting point for compounders, recyclers, masterbatch producers, processors, waste-management businesses and brand owners.

The free-to-attend event combines an exhibition with technical presentations and discussions on material processing, testing, extrusion, recycling and regulatory requirements.
