-Spandex price increases by 10,000yuan/mt, how will it fare later?

Spandex market is during traditional peak season now. In addition, stimulated by the expectation of cold winter, sound domestic orders for the online shopping spree on Nov 11, the order transfer from Southeast Asian nations such as India and some foreign orders for the Christmas Day, fabric mills saw good orders. Hot sales of elastic fibers drove run rate of spandex downstream mills to historic high. Price of spandex surged, up by around 10,000yuan/mt or above 32% within 3 months. How will spandex market fare in later period?

In view of demand, demand for spandex has marginally weakened in mid-Nov after earlier orders gradually completed. Production of thermal fabrics such as thick fabrics and fabrics for dralon and sweater gradually came to an end. Some plants saw sampling orders for the light fabrics for clothes in spring and summer. Exporters, fabric plants and textile and apparel companies had price game. However, later market still deserves anticipation as the pandemic is relatively better controlled in China. Sequent orders should be concerned.

-The project also aims to ensure the use of sustainable materials in Porsche cars can be proven.

By digitising materials Circularise was able to create a digital thread through the whole supply chain, enabling material traceability and other sustainability metrics.

Getting information from supply chains has always been a challenge due their complexity and number of suppliers, amongst other issues. Blockchain is therefore a fitting solution to transparency challenges. Petrochemical SustainableSources Biopolymer

Antoon Versteeg, Project Lead Innovation Research at Porsche, said: “We need to know more details on the parts and materials being used in our products, that means information on production processes deep down the supply chain, statements of recycled content and more.

-How about acrylic fiber market under the upward trend of ACN?

In foreign market, the units in the table are currently undergoing maintenance or planned maintenance. The main cause to push up China’s ACN prices is the shutdown of South Korean Tongsuh Petrochemical. China Petrochemical Development Corporation’s ACN unit will restart in mid or late Nov, then the supply may increase slightly in short. But looking from the table, the most critical unit, Tunghsu has no confirmed restart date, and Taekwang Industrial is about to implement the maintenance plan in Dec, plus Petkim’s long-time shutdown, if the three units have not restarted in Dec, the loss is estimated to be about 48,000 tons. Petrochemical SustainableSources Biopolymer

From a domestic point of view, as Sailboat’s MTO unit will be shut down for maintenance in Dec, its supply to downstream propylene will be affected. Nevertheless, viewed from the current price level of 6,850yuan/mt of propylene, the ACN profits are still seen. Shanghai Secco’s 260kta ACN unit will shut down for one month of maintenance from Nov 18.

-Nanomaterials labelling has to improve to gain public’s trust – ECHA

Public trust in nanomaterials could increase if labelling was more detailed on products including food, drugs, and cosmetics, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) said on Monday.

The Helsinki-based EU chemicals regulator concluded that nearly 90% of citizens in the 27-country bloc demand clearer labelling that details whether a product contained nanomaterials. Petrochemical SustainableSources Biopolymer

The study – conducted by ECHA’s EU Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON) – measured and analysed perceptions of the risks nanomaterials pose to human health and the environment in EU countries Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, France, and Poland.

-EREMA: RCS Group is expanding plastics recycling division using VACUNITE® bottle-to-bottle system

One of the first VACUNITE® bottle-to-bottle systems recently started operation in Werne/Germany. Using this system, the RCS Group, who already produce PET flakes for the non-food sector, is expanding their plastics recycling division to include the production of food-grade PET recyclate for food and beverage packaging, films and blisters.

For the further processing of PET flakes, the waste disposal and recycling group has built a new location on a 10,000 square metre site, creating 20 additional jobs. Here, the EREMA VACUNITE® recycling system will process up to 15,000 tonnes per year of PET flakes from the German deposit bottle collection system and other European sources to make high-quality recyclate, vacuum-assisted and in a nitrogen atmosphere. Due to the strict travel restrictions during the Corona pandemic lockdown in spring, commissioning the plant became an unexpected challenge for everybody involved. The plant components had already been delivered, but since the installation team was not permitted to travel to Germany, RCS started to assemble the recycling plant themselves. An EREMA team was then able to be on site for commissioning. Petrochemical SustainableSources Biopolymer
