Turkey’s exports continued their upward trend and increased by 4.8% year-on-year in September, surpassing $16 billion (TL 124 billion) and setting an all-time monthly high, Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan announced Friday.
“We have not only achieved success for September and 2020, but we have also achieved the highest September export figure to date,” Pekcan said.
The country’s exports were up 28.5% compared to August, Pekcan said.
They totaled some $12.5 billion in the month amid weak external demand in the European Union and disruption in the automotive sector due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Plastic waste is a key concern for environmentalists, governments and organisations, as vast majorities of plastics are disposed of in non-environmentally friendly ways, resulting in polluted oceans, overextended landfills and ecological damage.
Thus, plastic recycling is critical to improving the environment and bettering waste management solutions.Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
Here at SL Recycling we passionately believe that waste matters, and do our best to divert waste from landfill, including plastics.
We offer a comprehensive range of recycling services covering plastic, wood, metal, food waste and more! We put together this guide to plastic recycling, highlighting its significance, what can and can’t be recycled and why.
Demand for advanced fiber, virgin and reclaimed, is on an upswing after a dip during the recent recession. Fiber suppliers are gearing up to meet an expected increase in demand as manufacturers in a number of composites end-markets scale up or start up part development and production programs Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
Historically, markets for carbon fiber have gone through boom/bust cycles, making it difficult for fiber manufacturers to predict capacity needs. During the recent and deep recession which some say has not yet really ended, carbon fiber demand dipped, as economies in the US and the European Union slowed significantly, but recovery and growth have been the norm since. Fiber demand is now up and continuing to rise.
With these license rights, Kebony has the potential to successfully commercialise wood modified with a mix of humins and furfuryl alcohol
Avantium N.V, a leading technology company in renewable chemistry, announces that its subsidiary Avantium Renewable Polymers has granted leading wood modification company Kebony the right to use its patented technologies related to humins, as well as the right to file additional patents in the application area. Humins are a valuable side stream from Avantium’s process to produce FDCA (furandicarboxylic acid), the key building block for the novel polyester PEF (polyethylene furanoate). With these license rights, Kebony has the potential to successfully commercialise wood modified with a mix of humins and furfuryl alcohol. This may pave the way for a further collaboration between Avantium and Kebony and the commercialisation of humins from Avantium’s FDCA flagship plant which is planned to start up in 2023.

Turkish companies accused Saudi Arabia of obstructing the transfer of goods from Turkey to the Kingdom, suggesting that the political tension between the two regional powers is gradually moving into the field of trade. Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
According to what was reported by “Bloomberg” agency, these allegations prompted a Turkish official familiar with the matter to warn, last Thursday, that Ankara does not rule out filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization.
In turn, the largest container line in the world, the Danish company “AP Moller-Maersk A / S”, has warned customers of the possibility of disruption.
Bloomberg agency reported in a report published on Friday that the Turkish agent of “AP Moller-Maersk A / S” said in an email sent on September 29 that goods destined for Saudi ports “would be subject to a possible import ban or slowing down of traffic.” Customs.
Non-oil exports accounted for 46.31 million tons worth $13.56 billion and imports constituted 16.52 million tons worth $16.78 billion of the total trade figure during March 20-Sept. 21. Compared with the corresponding period of last year
Iran’s non-oil foreign trade stood at 62.84 million tons worth $30.34 billion during the first half of the current fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 21), indicating a 28% decline in value compared with the corresponding period of last year.Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
According to Mehdi Mirashrafi, the head of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, H1 non-oil exports accounted for 46.31 million tons worth $13.56 billion and imports constituted 16.52 million tons worth $16.78 billion of the total trade figure.
Last week, the blog took a look at how government policies could shape a market such as that for linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). The scenarios analysed uncovered a major point: A major upsurge in demand above the 2.24m tonnes base case for 2025 jeopardises operations for disadvantaged LLDPE plants globally.
However, the demand for recycled material was looking at mechanically recycled LLDPE – material picked up following consumption, sorted and recycled into further use. As most know, recycled plastic does not perform as well as virgin material and can only go through so many recycles before being useless. And when it gets to the useless stage, it still has to go somewhere, too often to a landfill. Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
Green Impact Plastics becomes first to focus on thermoforms in tray-to-tray recycling venture.
An innovative firm based in Mexico is seeking to make PET thermoforms the next big recycling success story. Green Impact Plastics is reportedly the first PET reclaimer solely recycling post-consumer thermoformed PET packaging in the Americas. It currently operates out of a plant in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and has plans to open a second facility in California next year. Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
Up to now, PET thermoformed clamshells and trays typically have been deemed non-recyclable. In California alone, about 240 million lb of PET thermoformed packaging are landfilled every year, according to rPlanet Earth, a recycler, sheet extruder and thermoformer in Vernon, Calif. (see May 2019 OnSite).
Asia’s titanium dioxide (TIO2) supply is likely to remain snug in the near term, with buyers expected to be more active in the second half of October.
China inventories remain low
Spot prices up for third week
Demand healthy at some downstream industries
In China, the main exporter in the region, inventories are low amid healthy demand in both the domestic and external markets. Petrochemicals PET DioxideTitanium
This market condition will likely persist after the long holiday in the country.
The Chinese markets are currently closed for the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, termed as Golden Week (1-8 October).
Spot TiO2 prices in Asia were assessed in the week ended 2 October at an average of $1,985/tonne FOB (free on board) China, up by $15/tonne from the previous week, according to ICIS data.

Trump has mild symptoms, according to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows. But the diagnosis, less than five weeks before the Nov. 3 election, has raised questions about what happens if a presidential candidate or the president-elect dies or becomes incapacitated.
Here’s how U.S. law and party rules address those scenarios.
– Can the Nov. 3 election be postponed?
Yes, but that is very unlikely to happen. The U.S. Constitution gives Congress the power to determine the election date. Under U.S. law, the election takes place on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, every four years.
