The global economy rebounded in the first quarter Global Economy Strong Growth

The global economy shows strong growth in the first quarter, despite the fact that oil has risen by about 40% by the end of April due to an agreement by OPEC and other oil exporters to limit its production and US sanctions against Iran and Venezuela, Vedomosti reports.

Experts give this two basic explanations.  First, according to some of them, the rise in prices reflects the high demand for oil.

Secondly, the shale revolution in the United States has changed the situation on the market.

Its production limits the rise in prices, and it is no longer so terrible for the US economy, which can turn from an oil importer into a net exporter.

-US crude production, Trade weigh on oil prices

Resisting the steady increase in US oil inventories over the past two weeks, oil prices are losing momentum, as headlines about the year-long trade dispute between the United States and China has prompted investors to divest themselves of risky investments.

Oil prices have turned down from 6-months high, with Brent crude trading below 70 (-1.75%), West Texas Intermediate at 60.80 (-1.80%) and finally Shanghai futures at CNY 471 (-2.80%).

Yet it seems that despite recent tweet from US president Donald Trump about potential tariffs hike, the situation has not changed.

-Do Biodegradable Plastics Reduce Ocean Pollution?

According to a study conducted by the University of Plymouth’s International Marine Litter Research Center published in the Journal of Environmental Science and Technology, the assumption that switching to biodegradable plastic will reduce ocean-plastic pollution yielded “no advantage” over conventional plastic in reducing ocean pollution.

Plastic bags made of “biodegradable plastic” remained intact with no visible sign of deterioration and useable three years after being dropped in the sea or buried underground.

-Uncle Dougie’s squeeze pouches flex strong sustainability numbers

A forward-thinking brand owner that made a calculated move into an entirely new type of packaging for both the company and the condiments category also had the environment in mind.
