-DORNIER Presents The Rapier Weaving Machine P2 At ITMA 2019

Since its development in 1967 it was known as the most flexible rapier weaving machine in the world: the P1 made by Lindauer DORNIER GmbH.

At the upcoming ITMA (20.–26.6., Barcelona) the company will present the standard variant of its successor, the P2 to the public for the first time.

It is already being hailed as a new milestone in rapier technology.

“Even more flexible, faster and more efficient – the P2 is the result of almost seven decades of expertise in developing and building rapier weaving machines”, says Thomas Laukamp, DORNIER’s Weaving Machine Predevelopment Manager.

-Scientists dissolve crude oil in water to study its composition

Researchers from MIPT, Skoltech, the Joint Institute for High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Lomonosov Moscow State University have offered a new approach to oil composition analysis.

They used high temperature and pressure to dissolve oil in water and analyze its composition.

The new method is compliant with the green chemistry principle as it makes it possible to avoid using environmentally hazardous solvents.

The paper was published in the Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry journal.

Initiative will slash convenience store operator’s CO2 emissions by 400 tons a year

Convenience store operator Seven-Eleven Japan will switch to plant-derived bioplastic wrappers for all rice ball offerings by the end of July as consumers grow more aware of the environmental impact of using petrochemical materials.

The new material will be made partly from sugarcane fibers. The initiative will reduce the convenience store’s carbon dioxide emissions by about 403 tons a year and its plastic use by roughly 260 tons.
