The initial May contract price of MEG in Europe increased by EUR40 per tonne
MOSCOW ( MRC ) – The initial contract price of monoethylene glycol (MEG) in Europe for May deliveries was agreed at the level of EUR1,005 per ton, which is EUR40 per ton higher than the April contract prices, ICIS informed one buyer and one seller.
The contract price of MEG on the European market in April was agreed at the level of EUR965 per ton, which is EUR20 per ton lower than the level of the previous month.
The contract price was agreed on the terms of FD NWE (with delivery to North-Eastern Europe).
The contract price is considered fully agreed upon after confirmation from a minimum of two manufacturers and from two consumers.
MEG along with terephthalic acid (TPA) is one of the main components for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , in March shipments of bottle granulate to Russia from far abroad increased sharply. Import excluding supplies from Belarus last month reached 11.3 thousand tons against 4.3 thousand tons a month earlier and 6.2 thousand tons in March last year. In the first quarter as a whole, the import of bottled PET excluding Belarusian supplies increased by 21% to 17.4 thousand tons against 14.4 thousand tons a year earlier. Import of all types of PET from abroad to Russia in the first quarter amounted to 21.1 thousand tons against 18.7 thousand tons in the same period last year.
