Shenhua Ningxia to open new PE and PP plants in China in late November
MOSCOW – China Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group (SNCG), the subsidiary of Shenhua Group, one of the largest petrochemical producers in the country, plans to commission new plants for the production of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) on November 28 ) in Ningxia province, China, a source in the company told ICIS on Friday.
The capacity of these enterprises is 450,000 tons of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) / linear polyethylene (LLDPE) and 550,000 tons of PP per year.
Initially, the company was going to launch new PE and PP plants on the site in Ningxia province on September 15 this year, and then postponed the start-up period for enterprises by mid-November.
In addition, according to a source, at the new SNCG petrochemical complex for the processing of coal into olefins with a capacity of 700,000 tons of products a year, prevention is currently being carried out after the successful testing in mid-September. It is expected that the complex will return to work in late November.
Earlier it was noted that the SNCG from May 20 to June 14 of this year carried out planned prevention at the first and second lines of PP in Ningxia province with a capacity of 200 and 300 thousand tons per year, respectively.
The total capacity of all four company lines for the production of PP at this site is 1 million tons per year.
According to DataScope of the company MRC, the total volume of external PE supplies to the Russian market grew by 7% in January-September of this year compared to the level of 2016 and amounted to 431.6 thousand tons. Supplies of low-density polyethylene (HDPE) and ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) have risen dramatically. The import of PP to Russia as a result of nine months decreased by 5% compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to 123.8 thousand tons. At the same time, the reduction in external supplies occurred only for several types of polypropylene.
