Lihuayi Group Launches New MEG Plant in China
MOSCOW – China Lihuayi Group, a major producer of petrochemical products in the country, earlier this week started commissioning works at the new plant for the production of monoethylene glycol (MEG) in Shandong Province, China, on Thursday ICIS source in the company.
It is expected that this enterprise with a capacity of 200 thousand tons of MEG per year will start production until the end of December, the source said.
At the site in Dongying City (Dongying, Shandong Province, China), the company also operates a BPA plant with a capacity of 120,000 tons per year, which was unplanned on November 9 of this year due to the discovery of technical malfunctions. The enterprise, which was put into operation in June 2015, again returned to work on November 13.
In addition, at this site Shandong Lihuayi operates a plant for the production of phenol and acetone with a capacity of 220 thousand tons of phenol and 130 thousand tons of acetone per year.
MEG is one of the main components for the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyester.
According to the Price Review of ICIS-MRC , the volume of imports of PET granulate to Russia, excluding deliveries from Belarus, amounted to 5,500 tons against 4,000 tons in September. October imports fell by 9% compared to the same month last year. Deliveries from China in October increased by 22% to 3.33 thousand tons against 2.74 thousand tons a month earlier. Imports of PET in Russia excluding supplies from Belarus in the ten months of 2017 decreased by 17% to 74.5 thousand tons against 89.5 thousand tons in the same period last year.
Lihuayi Group Co. Ltd. produces various petrochemical products, including phenol, acetone, bisphenol A and MEG. The company was founded in 1987 with headquarters in Dongying City, China.
