-Danone India aims to achieve 100% recyclable packaging by 2025
French dairy and nutrition company Danone has revealed its aim to make packaging in India 100% recyclable by 2025, said Packaging-gateway.
The ambition is part of the company’s ‘One Planet. One Health’ frame of action commitment. The strategic initiatives under the frame of action are intended to boost Danone’s capacity across the food supply chain.
According to the company, its One Planet. One Health agenda is based on the idea that health of people and planet are linked to each other. Additionally, the company will work on innovating and developing products and solutions to expand its portfolio to offer healthier diets that address local nutritional needs.
Danone India managing director Himanshu Bakshi said: “In today’s times, consumers are increasingly shifting their attention to healthier products and brands which have a positive impact on the environment. “At Danone, we believe that food companies have a critical role to address the ever-changing needs of the consumers and that we can change the world through food.
-Thyssenkrupp to build PET plant in Turkey
German machine engineering company Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions said it has won an order from Turkish packaging producer Koksan Pet Packaging Ind Co to build a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in Gaziantep, in the southeast of the country, said the company. Thyssenkrupp will supervise the construction and commissioning of the plant and provide the main equipment, engineering works, licence and staff training, the German company said in a statement.
The plant will be built next to an existing production site built by Thyssenkrupp back in 2013. The two facilities are expected to have a production capacity of 432,000 tonnes of PET resin per year. The plant will use the Melt-To-Resin (MTR) process patented by Thyssenkrupp’s subsidiary Uhde Inventa Fischer to produce various grades of resin.
Completion and commissioning are planned for 2022. The value of the contract remained undisclosed.

The bottle, which has the brand name engraved onto the recycled plastic, is part of Evian’s effort to become fully circular by 2025.
When a plastic bottle ends up in a recycling plant, the label attached to it usually isn’t recycled. That’s why a new bottle from Evian was designed to eliminate the label entirely, with the brand name and other details carved into the bottle itself.
“The benefit of being label-free is that our new bottle is a circular packaging solution, meaning there is no waste and all plastic is kept in the economy,” says Shweta Harit, global brand vice president at Evian. The brand is aiming to become fully “circular,” with the goal that all of its bottles will be made from 100% recycled plastic, by 2025. Biesterfeld Plastic and SK Chemicals are extending their long-term strategic partnership to target the cosmetic packaging segment.
